Overview Ontario Works helps people who are in financial need through: On-Going Financial Assistance including income to help with the costs of basic needs like food, clothing and shelter as well as health benefits for clients and their families. Emergency assistance for people who are in a crisis or an emergency situation (such as fire, flood, impending eviction or homeless, health-related crisis, family violence or concern about safety, death in the immediate family or theft).
